Personal Description

Paul joined imec-SMIT,VUB in April 2023 as a Researcher on Film distribution & policy in European markets. He is currently working on the CresCine’s project on increasing the international competitiveness of the film industry in small European markets (Horizon Europe, 2023-2026), in collaboration with professionals from the film industry and researchers from other universities in Europe. With great interest in EU policies and film industry, Paul believes that increasing the competitiveness of small European countries in movie production leads to cultural and economic benefits and encourages creativity and innovation.

He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Geneva, specializing in European economics and politics. In that regard, he did a traineeship at the EU Delegation to UNESCO and OECD in Paris where he worked, among others, on issues related to cultural heritage, education and human rights.

Before joining SMIT, Paul worked as a Research Assistant at the Group for Research and Information on Peace and Security (GRIP), where he conducted research and analysis on peacekeeping operations and EU policies for election observation missions. He then worked as Project Manager for a social and solidarity network (Diesis Network), managing EU-funded projects and drafting research papers.
