Personal Description

My academic career started in Arts & Culture with focus on Political Culture at Maastricht University. After graduating from the Master in Globalisation and Development Studies in 2017 at the same university, I have worked at an NGO fighting against extreme poverty in the Netherlands and intensified my interest in societal issues. There, I became increasingly interested in the way these issues are reported on (or avoided) in the media sector. This led me to the Master MsC Communication Studies: Journalism and Media at the VUB, where I wrote my thesis on the process of media concentration and its effect on the reporting on migration and refugees in the Belgian region of Flanders.

I have graduated in 2021 in the at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and thereafter joined the university as a teaching assistant and as candidate for a PhD at imec-SMIT.
