The rapidly evolving media landscape where regulatory, technological and financial pressures influence dynamics of media markets have highlighted how important is to understand the relevance of economics to the media industries. My research interests revolve around media economics and media management in small media markets, with special focus on digital business models, business models innovation and strategies of media companies.
Driven by a long-term interest in media, I joined SMIT as a PhD researcher within the Strategic research programme on media economics, focusing on shifting forms of policy support, their effectiveness and impact in small European markets. I hold a Media Management MA from the University of Westminster, London and I have experience in researching media markets in different national contexts. My master thesis deals with the challenges in optimizing business models and strategies of top media players in small media markets in Southeast Europe.
The professional experience in the media industry, both as a journalist and editor, has provided me with a comprehensive overview of how media markets have been changing and how media companies have continuously answered on technologically driven change.
