I am fascinated by the transition of news media from a pre-digital to a digital-first world, looking at how the media industry is testing solutions to innovate and how citizens are discovering new ways to consume news. In a time of experiments and question marks I find it intriguing to understand whether and how policy makers can influence this transition process. I am a member of the Media and Society programme (Journalism, Trust and Participation unit) and I am currently involved in the implementation of Stars4Media, a project coordinated by imec-SMIT-VUB, aiming at fostering innovation in the media sector. On top of that, since 2020, I am a PhD candidate. In my research I explore which paths the EU can follow to play a significant role in the process of restructuring the financial sustainability of news media and recovering the trust of citizens in news.
I obtained my MA in Philosophy in 2015 at the University of Milan, after which I have worked during 4 years as a communication and advertising consultant. Between 2018 and 2019 I completed my MSc in Communication Studies at the VUB.
