PAR4-B: Participatory Action Research for an e-inclusive Smart Brussels

The PAR4-B project – Participatory Action Research for an e-inclusive Smart Brussels – aims to develop a widely supported e-inclusive smart city master plan for the Brussels-Capital Region through a participative and action-oriented research process that (1) identifies the current challenges specific to a digital Brussels; (2) formulates solutions and actions for the realization of an e-inclusive digital Brussels; and (3) develops a future vision for tomorrow’s digital Brussels.

The project actively focuses on the offline and online bringing together of 4 stakeholder groups from the smart city domain and the e-inclusion field, in particular (a) policy makers; (b) private actors; (c) civil society organizations and public institutions; and (d) citizens of Brussels, including vulnerable social groups.

The PAR4-B project is construed as an iterative process in which six themes (economy, people, living, environment, mobility, government) are discussed according to the same pattern, (1) a SOTA of the Brussels policy, (2) a stakeholder mapping, (3) offline workshops with stakeholder groups, (4) an online civic engagement platform (Citizenlab), and (4) the integration of the previous results into an e-inclusive smart city master plan.
