imec-SMIT, VUB and Polytechnique Montreal organize joint research session

A team of three Ph.D candidates from Polytechnique Montreal (Canada) from the Data Intelligence Laboratory (LID) visited imec-SMIT, VUB on the 27th and 28th of June. This visit was organized to introduce the ongoing research and exchange ideas on AI research projects of both laboratories.

In a joint plenary session on the 27th of June, Loic Parrenin, Ambre Dupuis, and Aimé Toumelin from LID (Data Intelligence Laboratory) at Polytechnique Montréal presented their laboratory and their research on data valorization research projects.

Three researchers from SMIT, Tom Willaert, Tomas Ambra, and Nanouk Verhulst, presented their research on physical internet, conspiration analysis, and the importance and challenges of the use of data in society.

Polytechnique Montréal’s team visited the AI Experience lab on the 28th of June and explored potential collaborations through follow-up meetings. LID’s team described their visit as a real success: “It was a pleasure to have been able to share two days of research in Brussels with SMIT. Very nice meetings and a shared curiosity that made this event a real opportunity for sharing and learning. Special thanks to the whole SMIT for their generosity and their welcome. We look forward to meeting again for new research opportunities.” For more information on the LID laboratory and the presented projects check the website and LinkedIn of LID.
