Launch of Research Chair on Data Protection On The Ground
On 13 December 2018, the new VUB Chair on “Data Protection On The Ground” will be launched. The new chair promotes the investigation into actual practices of data privacy in organizations and the dissemination of best practices. The focus of its research is on developments in four sectors: smart cities, health, media, and banking.

About the Chair
This new Chair will be coordinated within the research group imec-SMIT, with Jo Pierson as the Chair holder and Ine van Zeeland as PhD researcher. The Chair will closely collaborate with the VUB research group LSTS (Law, Science Technology & Society) and with Mr. Willem Debeuckelaere (president of the Belgian Data Protection Authority). The Chair was established in partnership with BNP Paribas Fortis.
