Personal Description

My interests lie on the intersection of new journalism and political activism in the post-2011 Middle East and North Africa region (MENA). I look at the political economy of nascent media organisations in that region and the organisational and professional cultures that emerge within them.

I finished my MSc in Communication Studies at the VUB in 2015. In 2014/15 I was a freelance consultant for International Media Support (IMS) co-authoring a yearly mapping report on emerging Syrian media. I also hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan (2013), and a Japanese language certificate from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (2007).
