Personal Description

In all our behaviour throughout life, we are driven by a wide range of emotions and cognitions. I’m a social psychologist by training, and love learning more about people’s thoughts and behaviour towards today’s fast-paced digital innovations in healthcare. In particular, I’m interested what hesitations people feel towards these developments, and how we can ensure that transitions in this field are as easy as possible for various groups in our society. In addition, I’m interested to see how topics I previously studied, such as the need for social connectedness and power come back in our interactions with robots and other advanced technologies.

In 2012 I obtained my Research Master in Social Psychology from Tilburg University. I then moved to Leuven to do a PhD on the topic power and social connectedness, where I finished and defended my doctoral thesis in 2016. I then stayed on a post-doc, after which I joined imec-SMIT in 2019.
