We face a revolution in energy production and consumption. The fast increase in decentralized renewable energy production (e.g. solar panels), is leading to a two-way electricity transport in the grid. A stable grid will only be possible through continuous monitoring based on smart metering, both in the grid infrastructure and at the consumer side.

The objective of the CoPlaSM project is to realize a working proof of concept of a multi-standard communication platform for smart metering applications, and to validate it under the realistic and challenging conditions of an energy distribution network.

Within this project, iMinds-SMIT will explore the affordances of Smart-meters from the perspective of the end-users and its position in the broader Smart Home context. This will be done through a series of co-creation sessions.
