This project was commissioned by IPTS (Institute for Prospective Technological Studies). IPTS is one of the scientific institutes that is part of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC)
As part of this project, IBBT-SMIT will work with IBBT-MICT (Ghent University). Together, these research groups form the Digital Society department within IBBT that investigates ICT innovation from a social, economic and policy perspective.
The goal of this project is to conduct an explorative study on the use of digital games for social inclusion and empowerment. Through literature review, case studies and expert interviews, we will try to capture to what extent and how digital games can be deployed to re-engage people, who the key stakeholders are in this process and what opportunities and challenges they encounter along the way.
