01/01/2002 - 31/12/2006Has been finalized
i-City is a project whose aim is to convert possible plans and ideas on the future relating to wireless applications on PDAs, laptops, smartphones, etc into real-life schemes. It’s goal is to develop mobile broadband initiatives with, through and for ordinary people. Therefore they are setting up a living lab environment in the cities of Hasselt and Leuven with app. 4,000 test users. In this public-private financed project large players like Microsoft, Telenet, Fujitsu-Siemens, Concentra, Research Campus Hasselt and the Flemish government are involved.
Since i-city has put the user at the centre, SMIT was asked to help setting up the living lab project (profiling, selection,…). The research also includes conducting research on the behaviour and use amongst the test panel.
