Sven Lindmark holds a MSc degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (from Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden) and a PhD in Industrial Management and Economics (Chalmers, 2002).
After his PhD, he worked as project leader, later post-doctoral researcher and Assistant Professor at Department of Innovation Engineering and Management at Chalmers University of Technology– a department that he was also heading from 2004 to 2007. There he was researching and teaching on issues related to industrial analysis and innovation in ICT.
From 2007 to 2010 he was a Senior Researcher in the Information Society unit of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre IPTS (Institute for Prospective Technological Studies) in Seville, Spain. At IPTS he was researching the dynamics of the ICT industry and its R&D and innovation potential. Among other things, he was analyzing business R&D investments in ICT, in Europe, US and Asia). He also managed a project, which investigated the European competitiveness in emerging potentially disruptive technologies including Web 2.0, RFID, video games, embedded software and robotics technologies.
In August 2010, Sven started at SMIT as senior researcher in the Media, Markets & Innovation cluster, where he is now researching new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), their business models, value networks and innovation systems, and their impact on industry structure, industrial competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability.
Sven’s expertise is mainly in Industry analysis, Management, policy and economics of R&D & Innovation, and Policy analysis with strong focus on the ICT sector and its institutions.
Sven also has experience from consulting in his own company, and from executive training as program manager of CHAMPS. He is a research associate of IMIT –Institute for Management of Innovation and Technology.
