Wendy Van den Broeck joined SMIT in 2003. She is active in the user research domain and conducted research in different projects concerning the domestication of new media technologies in a home context. Her recent projects are related to the use and quality perception of video streaming (OMUS project), Do-it-yourself smart experiences and research related to iDTV, 3D-TV, omni-directional TV and HDTV.

Wendy Van den Broeck also conducted a PhD research on the domestication of iDTV in Flanders, entitled: "From analogue to digital: the silent (r)evolution? A qualitative study on the domestication of interactive digital television in Flanders.

Furthermore she is active in education, where she guides bachelor and master students in the domains of information society and in marketing. She also assists the exercice related to the course qualitative research methods.

Her academic background is a master in communication sciences (VUB-2002), a postgraduate diploma in management and economics (VUB-Solvay-2003), a teaching degree (VUB-2003) and a PhD in communication sciences (VUB-December 2010).
