LIZZY BLEUMERS
Researcher
Lizzy Bleumers graduated in Psychology in 2004 (with a major in behavioral neuroscience) and also holds a postgraduate degree in user-centered design. Since she began working at IBBT-SMIT in May 2008, she has been involved in several projects where she conducts user research including user observation, use scenario building, co-design and prototype evaluation. Most of her research deals with user experience in (semi-)virtual environments with an emphasis on game play and learning.

She has previously done work on topics like outdoor pervasive game play, remote family play and innovative distance learning. She is currently involved in an IBBT-project (xTV) to investigate omnidirectional television (offering 360° video) from a user perspective: what are relevant concepts in user experience, what are desirable applications and can it provide an added value in everyday life? In addition, she is involved in a European project (DGEI) considering, through literature and case review, how games can be part of empowerment and inclusion initiatives.

As a member of the Flemish gaming association DIGRA Vlaanderen and participant of this association’s executive board she aims to stay up to date with current gaming research and share her own research expertise.
