Within the Metaverse project Koen is collaborating with Alcatel Lucent on new ways of audiovisual communication within distributed teams of knowledge workers. Within the SEGA project various aspects of the user experience in relation to gaming are researched.
His current interests are: user centered design methods, telecommunication and awareness applications, 3D and virtual worlds, informal communication, social identity, gamed based learning and e-mental health applications.
Koen holds Masters Degrees in Experimental Psychology (KULeuven) and Cultural Sciences (VUB). Prior to joining SMIT he conducted policy research in the cultural field, did quantitative research on employee satisfaction and was involved in the development of e-mental health applications.
