| In July 2007 Ilse Mariën graduated cum laude as Master in Communication Science at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) with a thesis titled "User-oriented Design of ICT : inclusion or exclusion of people in poverty in Flanders". After graduating, she joined IBBT-SMIT as a scientific researcher. Her main research focuses on policy aspects of ICT with a specific emphasis on social implications. As of 2008 Ilse Mariën started a Phd on the digital divide of the second degree. Her Phd focuses on 1) new media use; 2) digital literacies; and 3) policy aspects related to the digital divide. |
