| Researcher |
Ben Van Rompuy works at the Institute for European Studies (VUB) as a legal researcher and is affiliated to SMIT.
His Ph.D. is concerned with the application of Article 101 TFEU in the audiovisual sector. By examining the role of non-efficiency considerations in the European Commission’s Article 101 TFEU decision-making related to these sector, his research aims to explore and revisit the boundaries of EU antitrust law. The legal assessment of the role of non-efficiency considerations is placed within the broader debate on the objectives of EU antitrust law, comparatively framed within/against US antitrust rationale, traditions and principles.
In 2009, Ben was a visiting research scholar at New York University (NYU).
In 2011, Ben will expand on his doctoral findings by conducting post-doctoral research as a Francqui Foundation Fellow of the B.A.E.F. at Georgetown University Law Center.
