Anne-Sofie Vanhaeght

Anne-Sofie Vanhaeght
Junior Researcher
Anne-Sofie Vanhaeght holds a Master degree in Communication Studies and joined the Policy Unit of SMIT in 2013. Her main topics of expertise are public service media and audience participation. She works on a PhD that questions how public broadcasters can involve their audiences better through social media and, even more important, in which cases it may be better to leave their audiences alone with these new interactive features. Combining policy and user research, Anne-Sofie not only scrutinizes the hype surrounding interactivity and participation in policy documents, but she also talks to the users themselves. In 2015 her research has been awarded with an FWO-scholarship. Prof. Dr. Karen Donders is the promoter of this research.
Recently Anne-Sofie contributed to two research reports for the Flemish Government about the VRT, the Flemish public broadcaster:

Her most important publications are:
*Moving Beyond the Borders of top-down broadcasting: An analysis of youngsters’ participation in public service media projects (Television & New Media A1, together with Karen Donders)
