Eva Van Passel graduated in Communication Studies at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) in 2003. In 2004 she obtained an additional Master in Filmstudies and Visual Culture at the Universiteit Antwerpen (UA). After that, she worked for the Belgian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers (SABAM). She joined SMIT as a researcher in November 2007. Her research interests include different aspects of culture in a networked society, with a specific interest in (audio)visual culture. Her research efforts are currently mainly centred on digitisation and digital distribution of cultural content.
