Prof. dr. Caroline Pauwels was appointed Professor at the department of media & communications at the Free University of Brussels in 1995. She is director of IBBT-SMIT. She lectures national and European media & communication policies.

Since 2005, Dorien is a member of SMIT where she is working on a Ph.D. on the use of digital campaigns for health promotion purposes. More in specific, she focuses on the opportunities of online participative networks for primary HIV prevention.
