Chinese exchange students visit iMinds-SMIT
On the 16th of November nineteen Chinese students and their supervisor, Stefan Huber, came to officially visit the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). These students were part of the MCM exchange program between the University of Salzburg (Austria) and the Fudan School of Journalism in Shanghai (China), under the supervision of prof. Ursula Maier-Rabler. The Brussels visit was aimed at getting acquainted with the International Master in Communication Sciences (New Media and Society in Europe), the research center iMinds-SMIT and the VUB in general.
The acquaintance started at iMinds-SMIT, where Jo Pierson and Leo van Audenhove gave an introduction on studying media and communication studies at the VUB. Next, Lu Jiangbo and Song Song, two Chinese exchange students from the VUB International Master gave a presentation about their expectations and experiences of the VUB and studying in Brussels. Then Jo Pierson amplified on the research center SMIT, as also being part of the Digital Society research department of iMinds. To illustrate the current research, Ralf De Wolf gave a description of his PhD research in the SBO-IWT project SPION (Security and Privacy in Online Social Networks). Afterwards, Charlotte van Hellemont (Perskring president) guided the students through campus to show them what the VUB has to offer.
