Jo Pierson elected for International Council of International Association for Media and Communication Research IAMCR
On June 14 Jo Pierson has been elected (with third largest volume of votes) as member for the International Council of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). IAMCR is one of the major worldwide professional organisations in the field of Media and Communication Studies, with individual and institutional members from more than 100 countries across all continents. The main aim is to advance scientific media and communication research throughout the world, addressing socio-political, technological, policy and cultural processes. It was established in 1957, facilitated by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). IAMCR still maintains a formal relationship with the United Nations system as a non-governmental organization and has Special Consultative Status with UNESCO and with the UN Economic and Social Council.
As a governing body the newly elected International Council co-operates with the Executive Board, where Janet Wasko was reelected as president. The new team will begin their four-year mandate at IAMCR's General Assembly in Leicester (UK) on 31 July 2016. All the election results can be found on the IAMCR website: http://iamcr.org/election-results-2016.
