On the online blog of the London School of Economics, Tom Evens (iMinds-MICT-UGent), Ben Van Rompuy & Karen Donders published an opinion piece detailing the regulatory issues in Flanders and the threats facing media pluralism and competition in the European Union as a whole.

In the opinion piece they delve into the recent wave of acquisitions and mergers that have been happening in Europe (Vodafone, Liberty Global, ...) and they go into specifics in the case of Telenet (a Belgian telecom company and subsidiary of Liberty Global). They discuss the legality and also the ethics of large scale acquisitions and mergers. They also make the case for stronger European regulation.
