SMIT LECTURE SERIES 2010: CLOSING SESSION
Media users hop, zap or browse from one platform to another. This is especially the case for younger audiences. In line with this, SMIT held a closing session of its 2010 Lecture Series on the topic of Public Service Broadcasting and the challenge of reaching children and youngsters.
First, Professor Dr. Jeanette Steemers – a renowned expert on British media policy, public service media and pre-school television presented her view on the necessity of reaching children and youngsters (‘the digital citizens of the future’) with public media services.

After her Tom Palmaerts, known for his expertise on the generation of ‘screenagers’, pointed out some of the latest media usage trends of youngsters.

In closure of the SMIT Lecture Series 2010 - Mrs. Ingrid Lieten, Flemish Minister of Media, presented her view on the key priorities for public service broadcasting in Flanders.
