‚ÄčTim Raats presented study on TV financing in Flanders in Flemish Parliament

On May 11th the Flemish Parliament organized a parliamentary hearing on the future of TV financing in Flanders. Specific attention was given to increased ad skipping, which puts significant pressure on financing of domestic content. The research team of Econopolis collaborated in the project with SMIT researcher Tim Raats. At the hearing, they emphasized the importance of a strong Flemish Media Fund, which has become particularly problematic as the budgets over the past years has decreased significantly. The researchers also emphasized the need to explore mechanisms to involve over-the-top players like Netflix in financing of domestic TV drama. The hearing can be viewed here
